Description

Raphael is said by Vasari to have been a pupil of Perugino. Perugino is dominant as an influence in the Sposalizio (Marriage of the Virgin) dated 1504 (Milan, Brera) made for the Franciscan church in Citta di Castello. Indeed this is, in some respects, a revised version of Perugino’s painting of the same subject begun in 1500 for Perugia Cathedral.
