The Madonna, from the church of Ognissanti, is generally dated to ca. 1310. Giotto’s version updated the type of colossal enthroned Virgin altarpiece produced by Cimabue (e.g. Santa Trìnita Madonna; Florence, Uffizi) and Duccio (e.g. Rucellai Madonna; Florence, Uffizi).
